Old Maid Card


Interrupting Internet- The internet 100% of the time hinders my creativity because I can get stuck in the social networks for hours on end. I chose to draw a computer opened to the web.

This is the back of my deck of cards. I made this colorful background because I believe it goes with the colorful cartoon like characters in my Old Maid cards.

10 activities to stimulate creativity


1.) Reading Reid- I read alot of books in order to clear my mind and allow my creativity to flow.
2.)Bloggin' Betty- I love scrolling through blogs and seeing different art work.
3.)Musical Michelle- In order for me to concentrate I listen to music to put me in a certain place.
4.)Mute Mike- Although I love music I do not like hearing TV as I draw or people talking. I like Silence.
5.)Magazine Maggy- Going through magazines gives me a lot of inspiration to create a great piece.
6.)Fresh Franny- Washing my face is a great way to stimulate creativity, makes me feel clean.
7.)Sexy Sketch- Going through my boyfriends sketch book also helps me before drawing, gives me different ideas on what I could create.
8.)Holey Holly- This shirt I got from a church event and I wear it everytime I draw.
9.)Bathtub Bobby- Taking a shower for many helps stimulate creativity, allows me to smell good odors.
10.) Willma the Water- Water always helps me feel creative. Makes me feel healthy.

5 inanimate objects I keep around my work space


1.) Sketchpad Sally- I always keep my sketchpad on my desk, that is where all my art work is.

2.)Traveling Teddy- His name is Kenny, I have had him since I was in 9th grade. A really good friend gave him to me and I always keep him near.

3.) Lasting Lamp- This is the lamp my mom bought me as a child and i use it for light when i draw at night.

4.) Germ-X Gimmy- I keep hand sanitizer on my desk because when I draw my hands get dirty.

5.)Lifetime Lipstick- I use it as a signature in all of my drawings. I keep it sitting my by sketchpad.

5 people that influenced my creative work

1.) Mothering Mommy- My mom was and still is a big influence on my creativity. She basically shaped what i see as ugly and what I see as beauty.

2.)Sketching Stranger- Plenty of sketch artist in New York definitely influenced me. That is how
I began to draw realistic rather then cartoon like.

3.) Demanding Daddy- My father always strived me to do the best when it came to my art work.

4.)Wise Willie- This is my boyfriend he has taught me how to draw cartoon like, i actually started to really like it.

5.)Loving Lady- This is a really nice lady that went to my church, i forgot her name. She use to always tell me my drawings were beautiful <3

5 events that shaped my personal aesthetic


1.) Creative Crayon- this represents when I was younger my father use to buy me countless crayons and coloring books so that I could perfect my art skills. Super appreciative.

2.)Arty Art- This represents when I first came to the Art Institute. It has shaped my art skills in a way I didn't know was possible.

3.) Elementary Emily- Represents me as a child in art class. I was really into art as a kid and still am to this day.

4.)Mopping Marg- As a kid I always had chores to do every single day, and my house wasn't even dirty but of corse a mom will find anything. It shaped my aesthetic view because i always knew everything had to be neat and clean.

5.) Cool Boy Camera- This represents when i took photography in high school. Taught me to see that there is beauty in a lot of different things.
